The Federation Internationale de Volleyball is the institution who manages and governs indoor and beach volleyball. They officially set up the beach volleyball uniforms in 1999.

The swimsuit became the official uniform for women and the board short and the tank top for men.

Some of the men athletes showed their disapproval considering the tank tops not necessarily, while others said the women bikinis are too sexy and not serious. This is part of the beauty of sand volley. Especially to the beach volleyball girls that have a nice shaped body fit.

Due to the fact that sand volley is spread all around the world beaches there are some conservative cultures who object to the official swimsuit uniform

The most used volley uniforms for women are the bikinis. The swimsuit is one or two pieces formed. Most practice and used is two pieces swimsuit.

The women beach volley play with the board short only when the weather is bad.

The board shorts are two types, the short length type and knee length.

Along with the official uniforms there are some necessarily accessories. These are the sunglasses, watches and the hats. Sunglasses along with the hats protect the player from the sun.

It is recommended also to use sun protection lotion.

Due to this sport the fashion industry has become to promote in the exotic countries, the board shorts as the daily outfit.

This sport represents a life style in all southern California. Indeed, towns like Manhattan Beach, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica and Huntington Beach maintain permanent courts and nets year-round.
